About Habitat Arboriculture

Habitat Arboriculture is an owner-operated arboriculture business based in Hobart, Tasmania, providing professional tree care across Greater Hobart and surrounding areas.

Led by qualified arborist Jack O’Hare, we specialise in technical tree climbing, professional pruning, complex tree removals, habitat creation and the management of large, mature and difficult trees.

Our work ranges from residential tree care through to commercial, government and environmental arboriculture projects, with a strong focus on careful planning, safe work practices and high-quality outcomes.

Technical Arboriculture & Complex Tree Work

A large part of our work involves trees that require more than straightforward pruning or felling.

We regularly undertake:

  • Large and technically difficult tree removals

  • Confined-access tree work

  • Technical climbing and rigging

  • Hazardous and structurally compromised trees

  • Mature tree pruning and canopy management

  • Deadwood removal

  • Habitat creation and artificial wildlife hollows

  • Veteran and habitat tree management

  • BAL and bushfire vegetation-management works

Where trees are close to houses, roads, gardens or other infrastructure, climbing and rigging systems allow us to work with a high level of control.

Our Approach

We take a considered approach to arboriculture.

The aim is not simply to remove as much tree as possible, but to understand what the tree, site and client actually require.

Where appropriate, pruning or ongoing management may allow a healthy or significant tree to be retained rather than removed.

For mature, veteran and habitat trees, we also consider ecological value, existing hollows, deadwood and other features that may be important for wildlife.

When removal is necessary, we plan the work around the condition of the tree, access, surrounding property and the safest and most efficient method of completing the job.

Qualified & Professional Arboriculture

Habitat Arboriculture is built around professional arboricultural practice and specialist tree-climbing experience.

Jack holds a Certificate III in Arboriculture and has extensive practical experience in technical climbing, rigging, pruning and complex tree work.

Our work is supported by appropriate industry training, first aid, climbing and rescue capability, and the equipment required to safely undertake professional tree work in a wide range of environments.

We aim to provide clear advice, communicate well throughout the job and leave sites tidy and well managed.
